About Me

David is a Westbury person and was educated locally. After leaving College He spent time in the Merchant Navy before working for Philips. David took up a number of jobs before starting his own Gardening  business. He Has a wife Christine, who is a local music teacher and four children all of which attended the local schools.together with four grandchildren.

David joined the Liberal Democrats and in 2009 and I became a Councillor on the West Wilts District Council representing the Westbury Ham Ward. In 2010 when Wiltshire County Council changed to being a Unitary Council He stood again and was elected as a Councillor to represent Westbury North on Wiltshire Unitary Council he is also a Town Councillor.:-

Appeals, Audit, Staffing Policy, Corporate Parenting Panel and Westbury Area Board. I also sit on the Westbury Town Council where I am a member of the planning committee and various working groups such as Leisure, Car Parking and the Town Centre Viability Group.

I support various local causes such as TARA ( Tenants and Residents Association), Westbury Patient’s Forum and I am President of the Westbury Chamber of Commerce where I work with Chamber members and businesses in the area to try and attract investment. I was one of the founder members of the Westbury Rugby Club and I am  currently a Vice President. I also recently became a school governor of Westbury Leigh Primary School.

As someone who has diabetes for over 30 years I decided to set up the Westbury Area Diabetes Group which is a self help informal social group to help support those who have the condition.

As a Liberal Democrat Councillor, I am a firm believer in listening to the community and get satisfaction knowing that I have been able to help someone. I believe that  Westbury has a lot of character and I have always been impressed with the community of the area who are hard working and conscientious.
